Ingunn Vestby (b. 1956) is a Norwegian textile artist based in Denmark, celebrated for her innovative tapestries and embroideries that explore natural patterns through extreme magnification. Her work emphasizes the abstract elements of nature, focusing on shapes and relationships rather than recognizable forms.

Education and Career

Vestby studied at the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek’s Drawing School and the School of Applied Arts in Copenhagen. Over the past 30 years, she has actively participated in exhibitions, biennales, and triennials worldwide.

Collections and Commissions

Her works are part of public and private collections, such as Oslo Municipality’s Art Collections and the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. Vestby has also completed commissions for institutions like Norsk Hydro and Ullevål Hospital in Oslo.

Through her unique textile interpretations of nature, Ingunn Vestby continues to make significant contributions to contemporary textile art, bridging traditional craftsmanship with modern artistic expressions.
