Rønnaug Vaa
Rønnaug Elisabeth Vaa (b. 1947) is a Norwegian textile artist recognized for her contributions to tapestry and textile design.
Education and Early Career
Vaa pursued her education in textile arts at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry (Statens Håndverks- og Kunstindustriskole) in Oslo, completing her studies in 1971. She further enhanced her qualifications with a pedagogical course in 1972.
Artistic Practice
Specializing in tapestry, Vaa’s works often feature abstract and symbolic motifs. Her approach integrates traditional techniques with contemporary themes, reflecting a deep engagement with both form and meaning.

- Prekestolkledet for Heli Church (2001): Designed a pulpit cloth featuring a cross motif proportioned to the pulpit’s structure, with intersecting waves symbolizing the central place of the cross in the church’s message.

Vaa has participated in various group exhibitions, such as “Norsk tekstil nå” (1973) and “Norsk tekstilkunst i dag” (1974).
